Victor Wanyama has reportedly still not provided any indication that he is prepared to sign a new contract at Southampton.
It is believed that the Saints have informed the Kenyan midfielder that there is a five-year deal on the table for him.
However, according to The Mirror, Wanyama's reluctance to commit to those fresh terms is down to the fact that he is hopeful Tottenham Hotspur will renew the interest that they showed him last summer.
The report adds that Southampton remain eager for the 24-year-old to extend his contract, given that his current one is due to expire in less than 18 months.
Waynama joined the South Coast side from Celtic for £12.5m in July 2013.
