Phil Neville has backed Jack Rodwell to force his way back into the England squad following his move to Sunderland earlier today.
Twenty-three-year-old Rodwell has spent the previous two seasons with champions Manchester City, but injuries and competition for places restricted the midfielder to just 26 appearances for the Citizens.
However, providing that he can remain fit at the Stadium of Light, Neville believes that his former Everton teammate has the quality to capture the attention of England boss Roy Hodgson.
"Good move for Jack Rodwell. Time for him to play every week and show everyone his ability. If [he] stays injury free [he] will be back in England squad," Neville wrote on Twitter.
Rodwell has been capped three times at senior international level, the last of which came during a 2-2 draw with Brazil last summer.
