Sunderland are reportedly prepared to improve their offer in a bid to sign Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.
The Wales international, whose contract at the Liberty Stadium expires next summer, is said to have been targeted by numerous clubs.
Reports have claimed that the Black Cats will increase their bid after a £4m offer was rejected by Swansea at the start of the month.
According to The Telegraph, Williams, who is believed to be keen on a move to Sunderland, will earn more money at the Stadium of Light, despite the Swans preparing to offer the centre-back improved personal terms.
The North-East outfit are reportedly aiming to seal Williams's signature before pre-season training gets underway in two weeks' time.
