Tommy Docherty brands Ryan Giggs 'a disgrace'

Former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty calls Ryan Giggs 'a disgrace' after the Team GB captain failed to sing the national anthem.

Team GB football captain Ryan Giggs has been called 'a disgrace' by former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty for failing to sing the national anthem.

Giggs, along with fellow Welshman Craig Bellamy, did not sing the national anthem ahead of Team GB's first match with Senegal, prompting an angry outburst from the former Scottish international.

Docherty told Manchester Evening News: "I think the Welsh lads were a disgrace. They are representating Great Britain at the Olympic Games, not Scotland, Ireland or England.

"Singing the national anthem is about showing respect for your team and country. Giggs is the captain. What kind of example is that?"

After the match, Giggs refused to answer questions on the subject.
