Marley Watkins withdraws from the Wales squad due to injury, resulting in Ryan Hedges being called up for qualifiers against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland.

Wales have announced that Marley Watkins has withdrawn from the squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland.

The Norwich City midfielder, who has provided one assist in 10 appearances for the Canaries in all competitions this season, has pulled out due to injury.

It is the second injury blow in two days following the news that Real Madrid star Gareth Bale will also miss the qualifiers, which will determine whether the Dragons seal automatic qualification to next year's finals in Russia.

Barnsley striker Ryan Hedges has been called up as Watkins's replacement and is in positive form having scored twice in 10 outings for his club.

It is the first time that the attacking player has been included in the senior Wales squad.
