Liam Ridgewell is delighted that West Bromwich Albion have secured the services of Ben Foster on a permanent basis.
Foster enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Baggies last season and has now signed a three-year deal to stay at The Hawthorns.
Ridgewell believes that Foster's signing is a statement of intent for the new season.
He told the club's official website: "Signing Ben was absolutely fantastic - one of the best pieces of news of the summer. The term world class is easily used these days but he really is that good.
"He gives great confidence to the defenders playing in front of him which is crucial."
West Brom's Premier League opener will be against Liverpool on August 18.
