Tony Pulis 'considering West Bromwich Albion future'

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis reportedly wants to hold talks with chairman John Williams due to the club's underwhelming business in the transfer market.

Tony Pulis is threatening to walk away from West Bromwich Albion following their disappointing summer transfer business, according to a report.

The Welshman splashed out a total of £22m to recruit four new players, including £13m midfielder Nacer Chadli from Tottenham Hotspur.

Pulis made it clear that he was desperate for four more players after Chadli's arrival earlier this week, backed by the club's new Chinese investors, but only free agent Hal Robson-Kanu and full-back Allan Nyom arrived on deadline day.

It is claimed by The Express that Pulis, who is into the final year of his contract at The Hawthorns, is frustrated by the Baggies' lack of spending and is now seeking talks with new chairman John Williams.

Malaga ace Ignacio Camacho is said to be among those Albion missed out on in the closing hours of the transfer window, while the Saido Berahino saga also went unresolved for the second summer running.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, Williams said: "Our head coach Tony Pulis is very selective and particular about the players he recruits so it follows that the new team members will add significantly to his first-team options. Tony wanted five and we got five. That having been said, the one disappointment we suffered was not being able to add a further quality midfield player.

"We were a long way down the road with a deal, which for the second time in the window would have broken the club transfer record, thanks to the ongoing support of Jeremy Peace [the majority shareholder] and Guochuan Lai [the club's prospective new owner].

"But it was decided for footballing reasons not to pursue this. Despite it being late in the window, we decided to pursue another high-quality target. Unfortunately, we were not able to get the deal over the line."

West Brom have started the season with a win, a draw and a defeat from their first three games, leaving them in 10th place in the Premier League table.
