Sam Allardyce: "Chelsea were the better team"

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce admits that Chelsea were the "better team" in his side's loss at Stamford Bridge.

Sam Allardyce has admitted that Chelsea were the "better team" in his West Ham United side's defeat to the league leaders this afternoon.

John Terry and Diego Costa scored the goals in the 2-0 loss, which drops the Hammers out of the top four in the Premier League table.

The manager told Sky Sports News: "Up to 2-0 yes [they were too good]. We did not do enough to affect them today because of the quality they have. I said if we were going to get anything against Chelsea you have to play your best but even then that might not be good enough.

"We created some very good chances late on and did not give up. The best part of our game came from when we went 2-0 down. I am not saying we deserved anything, Chelsea were the better team but when we carved out a few chances in the last 20 minutes, you stick one in and it can make things a bit nervous for them."

West Ham host Arsenal on Sunday.
