Slaven Bilic: 'West Ham United still active in transfer market'

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic says that the club must make more signings in order to compete towards the top of the Premier League table.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has said that he is looking to sign two "extremely quality players" before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Hammers have missed out on a number of high-profile players this summer - including Michy Batshuayi and Carlos Tevez - but Bilic has confirmed that the club remain active in the transfer market as he looks to strengthen his first-team squad.

The 47-year-old told reporters: "We are trying to get one or two players that are really hungry and keen to join us and they are extremely quality players.

"Hopefully we are going to get one or two of them, depending also on [Manuel] Lanzini's situation, which we are going to know only in a few days' time. Still, we don't have a squad big enough to compete, even in the Premier League."

West Ham begin their attempt to qualify for the Europa League group stages on Thursday night when they face NK Domzale in Slovenia.
