West Ham United were reportedly 'never close' to signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore, despite reports linking him with a move to East London.
Over the past two weeks, West Ham are said to have dipped in and out of talks with PSG over a deal, with Pastore's wage demands allegedly causing concern for the Hammers.
According to French outlet L'Equipe, however, Pastore was never in discussions with West Ham and has always preferred the Serie A as a new destination.
The source says that Roma have been monitoring the midfielder and are prepared to continue negotiations with PSG over a transfer.
Pastore, who has one year left on his contract in the French capital, scored four goals and registered five assists from 28 Ligue 1 outings last term.
