Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez will reportedly leave his role as manager next week as he wishes to take over at Everton.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez will quit the club following their relegation to the Championship, according to a report.

The 39-year-old will tell chairman Dave Whelan next week that he will leave his role as Latics boss after four years in charge at the DW Stadium.

Martinez is interested in replacing David Moyes at Everton and feels the opportunity is too good to turn down, reports The Sun.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is set to ask Whelan for permission to speak to Martinez about the vacant managerial role at Goodison Park, when the Spaniard breaks the news to him.

Martinez guided Wigan to victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, winning the Latics' first major silverware, but the club were relegated from the Premier League just days later.
