Wolfsburg forward Max Kruse has been removed from the Germany squad due to unprofessionalism.
The 28-year-old was recently fined by his club side after reports in the media alleged that he had left almost £60,000 of poker winnings in the back of a taxi.
A statement on the German FA's website did not specify whether that incident was behind Kruse's dismissal, but head coach Joachim Low accused the 14-time international of failing as a role model.
"Last week I talked with Max about what I expect from players on and off the pitch. His actions in the last weeks were unprofessional," read the statement.
"We need players who are focused on football and also understand their role as role models."
Kruse, who will miss Germany's friendlies against England and Italy, could now be left out of the Euro 2016 squad too.
