Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has claimed that Benfica defender Luisao will be prepared for Championship football should he make the move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Earlier this week, the former Brazil international was strongly linked with a transfer to the West Midlands after spending 13 years with the Portuguese giants
Despite his age of 35, Gomes - who is a friend and former teammate of Luisao - has said that the centre-back will be "physically prepared" for the rigours of the second tier of English football if he decides to move to Molineux.
The Watford stopper told Ojogo: "The English football will be a great place for him, the Championship is a heavy competition, very heavy really, with 46 fixtures. But I'm sure he'll arrive physically prepared, he always took care of himself and has a lot of experience. Luisao is a true phenomenon, both as a player and as a person.
"Wolverhampton have history and now have been getting a strong investment. Luisao certainly knows all that and must've thought: 'I've done everything at Benfica, I'm the man here, but I want something different'. It's a typical decision of a warrior. He'll leave his comfort zone to seek a different challenge.
"But Luisao easily has a place in the Premier league. If he had spoken to me before, he wouldn't have to go through the Championship, he'd have come directly to Watford!".
After Chinese conglomerate Fosun International bought the club, Wolves are expected to make a number of signings before the end of the transfer window.
