Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly planned a move for Stoke City and Wales midfielder Joe Allen this summer.
The West Midlanders will be in the Premier League next season, having won the Championship title this term.
Meanwhile, Stoke are fighting for their top-flight lives, sitting three points adrift of safety with just two fixtures left.
According to The Sun, Wolves are seeking tried-and-tested Premier League talent to bolster their ranks next season, while Stoke may be looking to get Allen off the payroll should they suffer relegation.
The report claims that Paul Lambert, a former Wolves manager, is willing to sanction the move should Stoke go down and could be in line to recruit some of the Molineux outfit's fringe players next season to bolster the Potters' bids for promotion from the second tier.
Allen has made 74 appearances for Stoke since his 2016 move from Liverpool, scoring 10 goals and registering 11 assists.
