Shaun Wane is delighted to have been appointed the new coach of Super League club Wigan Warriors.

New Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has revealed that he has "dreamt" about taking over at the DW Stadium for some time.

Wane has been appointed to the role following Michael Maguire's decision to return to his native Australia.

"[The job] means everything to me to be honest," Wane told Sky Sports News. "I've dreamt about getting this role.

"I've watched Wigan from being six years old and it is a great moment for me and my family.

"I'm going to make sure I give it my all."

Wane spent eight years as a player with the Super League side up until 1990.
