Owen Farrell kicks England to victory over Ireland

Owen Farrell kicks four penalties to help England beat Ireland 12-6 and go two points clear at the top of the Six Nations table.

England remain on course to win their first Grand Slam since 2003 after beating Ireland 12-6 at the Aviva Stadium.

Stuart Lancaster's men, who now sit two points clear at the top of the Six Nations table, led 6-0 at half time courtesy of two penalties from Owen Farrell.

Making his 127th senior international appearance, Ronan O'Gara halved his side's deficit early in the second period, after Dan Cole had been penalised for collapsing the scrum.

James Haskell was sent to the sin bin on 56 minutes for kicking the ball away from the base of an Irish ruck.

O'Gara converted the resultant penalty to level the scores, but 14-man England defied their numerical disadvantage, as Farrell kicked two more penalties to restore the visitors' six-point lead.

Shortly after Haskell's return to the field, O'Gara directed a 30-metre penalty narrowly wide of the posts.

Farrell then followed suit at the other end, setting up a nervous finish with Ireland requiring just a converted try for victory.

However, England kept their discipline and held on to claim their first win in Dublin for 12 years.
