Leicester Tigers, Bath Rugby ends in a draw

Leicester Tigers get a late try to secure a draw against Bath Rugby.

Leicester Tigers have fought back to secure a late draw against Bath Rugby this afternoon.

The Tigers had an early advantage when they worked the ball wide to Miles Benjamin, who went over for the first try after only eight minutes.

An Owen Williams penalty increased the lead, but Bath fought back in the best way possible. Peter Stringer collected a bouncing ball from a line-out and a George Ford pass gave Nick Abendanon space to break, from which he played in Anthony Watson, who rushed under the posts.

After a Ford conversion, Bath broke again, this time with Kyle Eastmond. The ball was worked over to Francois Louw, who was able to dive over from close range for his side's second try.

Williams pulled the Tigers to within three points of their opponents with another successful kick as the high-scoring first half continued. However, Ford displayed good technique with his boot to again extend Bath's lead.

Ford then added another penalty try after Williams had kicked between the posts for the home side.

Bath extended their advantage when a Ford pass found Jonathan Joseph and the centre powered over.

Thomas Waldrom brought the Tigers back into the match and there was late drama when Jamie Gibson made it 27-27, but Williams missed the conversion and ensured that the spoils were shared.
