Stanislas Wawrinka "feeling ready" for Davis Cup showdown

Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka insists that his recent dispute with Roger Federer has been put in the past ahead of this weekend's Davis Cup final.

Stanislas Wawrinka has insisted that he will head into this weekend's Davis Cup final in a buoyant mood, despite his fallout with Switzerland teammate Roger Federer last week.

The 29-year-old was seen having a heated exchange of words with some members of Federer's box at London's O2 Arena during their ATP World Tour Finals clash, although the dispute was quickly played down.

Wawrinka will get proceedings against France underway today when he takes on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, declaring that he 'feels great' in spite of his disappointing defeat last week.

"For sure, it was tough to lose against Roger with four match points," he told reporters. "But I took a lot of positive from that week. I'm feeling great from London, a lot of confidence from there. Playing really good tennis.

"I've had five days here to change surface, to play on clay. I did what I could here with some good practice. I'm feeling ready for the weekend.

"It's going to be a long weekend. Doesn't matter what, you have to be ready for three days. I think I am. Physically I'm feeling fit. It's great that Roger can play tomorrow."

Federer was initially seen as a doubt for the event, but he came through a successful practice session yesterday morning and is fully fit for his meeting with Gael Monfils.
