Heather Watson happy to make return at French Open

British number two Heather Watson admits that she is pleased to return at the French Open following a two-month absence through illness.

British number two Heather Watson has admitted that she is pleased to be back from illness for the French Open.

The 21-year-old has been sidelined for the past two months with glandular fever but will make her return to action next week at Roland Garros.

"I'm happy to be back," Watson is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I'm not looking at my ranking and am focusing on myself.

"I still want to go out and win matches and do well. I'm not going to use [illness] as an excuse. I wouldn't have come here if I wasn't ready."

Watson has been drawn against Swiss world number 58 Stefanie Voegele in round one of the French Open.
