World number one Novak Djokovic has admitted that Andy Murray was the better player in their Dubai Tennis Championships semi-final contest.

The Serb lost his first match of 2012, succumbing 2-6 5-7 to Murray in the United Arab Emirates.

Despite the loss, Djokovic said that he will take positives from his performance and move on.

"I was fighting for it, but Andy played a great match," said the 24-year-old. "He was the better player today. He was serving really well.

"I made a lot of unforced errors when it was important. But, look, this is sport. It's normal that in some matches you can't pull out your best when you need to.

"It's been a great tournament here in Dubai. I lost to somebody that's a top player, top quality player. I move on. I take the best out of it and hope to play better next week."

Djokovic will now prepare to defend his title Masters 1000 title in the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells next week.
