Tomas Berdych breezes past Gael Monfils in Rotterdam quarter-finals

Tomas Berdych is through to the semi-finals of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam after easing past Gael Monfils.

Tomas Berdych has made light work of Gael Monfils to reach the semi-finals of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

The third seed, who recently reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, conceded just five games as he eased to a 6-1 6-4 triumph.

The Czech hitter conceded just five points behind his serve during the opener as he broke Monfils twice to move a step closer to the last four.

It was a similar story at the start of the second as Berdych made the immediate breakthrough, and that gave him the platform to serve out the match in confident fashion.

Berdych will now play Gilles Simon for a place in Sunday's final.
