Dominika Cibulkova through after Zhang Shuai retirement

Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova is through to the final of the Mexican Open after Zhang Shuai was forced to retire in their semi-final with an arm injury.

Top seed Dominika Cibulkova has progressed to the final of the Mexican Open after Zhang Shuai retired less than a set into their semi-final.

The eighth seed was able to keep pace with her opponent in the first four games of the match, which went with serve.

However, the Chinese player appeared to suffer an arm injury in the fifth game, allowing Cibulkova to clinch the next two before her opponent was forced to quit the match.

Cibulkova will face either Christina McHale and Caroline Garcia in the final.
