Kei Nishikori 'very happy' with quarter-final win

Kei Nishikori expresses his delight after defeating Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter-finals of the US Open.

Kei Nishikori has expressed his delight at reaching the semi-finals of the US Open following his 3-6 7-5 7-6 6-7 6-4 victory over Stanislas Wawrinka.

The 24-year-old became the first Japanese man to reach the last four of a Grand Slam in 81 years after seeing off the Swiss in a gruelling showdown.

"I started a little bit tight but my body was OK. As the game was going on, I got more confidence. I don't know how I finished the game but I'm very happy," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

Nishikori will take on either Andy Murray or Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.
