Roger Federer has described his record-equalling seventh Wimbledon title as an 'amazing feeling' after he beat Andy Murray on Centre Court on Sunday.
Despite losing the opening set to the Brit, Federer took the next three to move level with William Renshaw and Pete Sampras for wins at the All England Club.
The triumph has also seen the 30-year-old move back to the top of the world rankings.
When asked what the historic victory meant to him, the Swiss said: "It feels great being back here as a winner, it's a great moment.
"It's amazing – it equals me with Pete who's a hero. It just feels amazing."
The champion also had some kind words for Murray, who is still looking for a maiden Grand Slam title after what was his fourth final.
"He's done so well over the years, been so consistent," he added. "He'll at least win one Grand Slam; that's what I hope for Andy."
Federer's previous triumphs at SW19 came in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009.
