Massimiliano Allegri eyes new striker as Pato, Robinho exits loom

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri insists that a new striker will need to be brought to the club if Alexandre Pato and Robinho leave in January.

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that he will need a new striker should the club sell Robinho and Alexandre Pato in the January transfer window.

Both forwards have offers from Brazil, and Milan's vice-president Adriano Galliani is due to fly to South America for talks on Sunday.

Allegri insisted that the plans all depend on Galliani's talks, but claimed that they will be looking to strengthen the side should the Brazilian duo leave the San Siro.

"If Pato and Robinho leave then we'll need another striker," Allegri said. "Five attackers is the right number, but it all depends on Galliani's trip.

"From that we will look at what the best solutions are to strengthen the team. But talking about this now makes no sense.

"If a player arrives then it will be an important player and if it is an important player then they would probably have already played in the Champions League this season."

Milan have lost a number of key players recently, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
