Fabio Borini "honoured" to join AC Milan

Italian forward Fabio Borini reveals that he is "honoured" to have joined AC Milan after completing a move from Sunderland.

Fabio Borini has revealed that he is "honoured" to have joined AC Milan after completing a move from Sunderland.

The 26-year-old managed just two goals in 24 Premier League appearances for relegated Sunderland last season, but he has earned a move to Italian giants Milan.

Borini has joined the San Siro outfit on an initial 12-month loan deal, with Milan having the chance to make the move permanent at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Italian has admitted that he is still coming to terms with earning a move to one of the giants of European football.

"I am only just starting to realise what's happening," Borini Milan TV. "Looking at the Milan Museum, you understand how great this club is and I can only be honoured to be here.

"Seeing all those Champions League trophies up close gives you a certain sensation, as they are the trophies players most want to lift. Milanello is a wonderful structure, suited to the club's stature. I will have to make the most of all these facilities to improve myself as a player."

Borini scored nine times in 24 Serie A appearances during a loan spell at Roma in the 2011-12 campaign.
