Agent Mino Raiola has stressed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic completing a return to Serie A next month was not a foregone conclusion.
The striker announced last month that he had left Los Angeles Galaxy after a two-year period in California during which he scored 52 goals in 56 MLS games.
Reports have strongly tipped Ibrahimovic for a return to Serie A, with AC Milan, Napoli and Bologna the favourites to secure his signature.
Speaking on the subject of his client, Raiola told Gazzetta dello Sport: "It's not been said that he will necessarily return to Italy.
"Which of the three interested clubs will he choose? Who knows, we're all free men. Could he retire? I'm not going to exclude anything but it is very unlikely. Ibra is still very well."
Ibrahimovic has fond memories of Italy following successful spells with Juventus, Milan and Inter Milan.
The 38-year-old has also been linked with a stunning reunion with Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur over the January transfer window.
