Barcelona will have to pay Liverpool £4.5m if Philippe Coutinho wins the Champions League with Bayern Munich this season, according to a report.

Barcelona will reportedly have to pay Liverpool an additional €5m (£4.5m) if Philippe Coutinho goes on to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich this season.

Coutinho scored twice against his parent club on Friday night as Bayern breezed into the semi-finals of the European Cup with an 8-2 victory over Barca.

The 28-year-old joined the Catalan giants in a big-money deal from Liverpool in January 2018 but has found it difficult to make his mark since arriving at Camp Nou.

Coutinho has impressed on loan at Bayern this term, though, and according to The Mirror, the Brazilian's success in the Champions League could cost Barca more money.

The report claims that a clause included in the initial agreement with Liverpool means that the Reds will be due an extra €5m (£4.5m) if the playmaker wins the European Cup this season.

The South American is widely expected to leave Barca on a permanent deal this summer, with Arsenal thought to be at the head of the queue for his signature.
