Robert Pires: 'FA Cup success is crucial for Arsenal'

Robert Pires insists that victory in the FA Cup final could be crucial for Arsenal's future.

Robert Pires has claimed that recording victory in this weekend's FA Cup final is crucial for Arsenal going forward as a club.

Arsene Wenger's side will look to end a nine-year trophy drought against Hull City at Wembley on Saturday, and Pires believes that success could instantly change the mentality at the club.

"For the fans, for the club, for the board, for Arsene Wenger, the final is very important," the former Gunners winger told members of the media.

"It is very important psychologically because every player knows it is very hard to win any title, especially after a long time.

"Everybody at Arsenal knows big pressure is on the shoulders of the players because we need to win, to concentrate and focus."

Pires won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups during his time with Arsenal.
