Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Premier League showdown with Arsenal.

Chelsea head into their London derby with Arsenal looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League after their defeat at Newcastle United.

While the Blues dominated for large parts at St James' Park, they ultimately succumbed to a last-gasp goal from Isaac Hayden.

However, despite the disappointment, Frank Lampard's side remain in fourth position in the standings ahead of Tuesday's fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with one of their fierce rivals.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Status: Out
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: Unknown

While Lampard revealed last week that Loftus-Cheek had made some progress in his comeback from a serious Achilles injury, the academy graduate is still at least a month away from being back in contention.

Christian Pulisic

Status: Out
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Manchester United)

While Pulisic is believed to be close to a return to action after an adductor injury, the most recent suggestion is that he will not feature in the squad until after the upcoming winter break.

Marcos Alonso

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Buttock
Possible return date: January 21 (vs. Arsenal)

Marcos Alonso, who continues to be linked with a move away from Chelsea, has been unavailable since December 22 due to a buttock injury. However, the Spaniard is believed to be closing in on a return to competitive football, which could occur this week.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Having been forced off with a knee injury against Newcastle, James faces the prospect of some time on the sidelines. Given the short turnaround, the right-back will not be considered for selection.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for the Premier League fixture.
