Report: Unai Emery favourite to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal

Departing Paris Saint-Germain head coach Unai Emery is believed to be the frontrunner to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the summer.

Departing Paris Saint-Germain head coach Unai Emery has reportedly emerged as the favourite to take the reins at Arsenal in the summer.

Despite winning a domestic treble this season, the Spaniard has failed to deliver the coveted Champions League trophy as PSG fell at the last-16 hurdle this term.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking for a new manager after Arsene Wenger announced his intention to step down at the end of the season.

According to The Express, Arsenal will move for Emery after both Luis Enrique and Massimiliano Allegri expressed reservations about the two-tier management structure at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the report claims that the former Sevilla manager wants £8.5m a year to take the Arsenal job, a figure which the Gunners board is reluctant to pay.

Emery won three consecutive Europa League cups while in charge of Sevilla and clinched one Ligue 1 title, two Coupes de France and two Coupes de la Ligue at the Parc des Princes.
