Mesut Ozil: 'I'm in the form of my life'

Mesut Ozils says that he is in the best form of his life ahead of Arsenal's deciding Champions League group clash at Olympiakos on Wednesday.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has admitted that he feels he is in the best patch of form to date in his career ahead of the club's Champions League group decider against Olympiakos on Wednesday.

The German set up Joel Campbell's opener in the Gunners' 3-1 victory over struggling Sunderland on Saturday, to take his tally for the season in all competitions to five goals and 12 assists.

Ozil said that he is delighted to have finally blossomed in an Arsenal shirt after a hit-and-miss start to his career in the Premier League, and insisted that he and his teammates fully believe that they can progress to the Champions League last 16.

"This season is the strongest season that I have ever played," the 27-year-old told The Mirror. "I am in a good way, playing really well, and I believe in myself.

"[Wednesday] will be very hard. Olympiakos can play good football - we saw that in the first match. They want to play on the counter-attack but we cannot concede goals like we did again.

"The fans will be right behind them and our goal is to beat them. It is achievable to go there and win by two goals. We really have to give everything so that we can achieve this and get through to the next round. We have the quality to beat them and our goal is not to even think about going out of the competition."

Arsenal must beat the Greek side by two clear goals or by a scoreline of 4-3 if they are to progress from their group.
