Arsenal have taken the first step towards extending Theo Walcott's contract at the North London club.
Walcott's representatives have met with Arsenal for brief talks but a formal offer has yet to be made by the club, according to The Telegraph.
The England international is currently on a wage of around £60,000 at the Emirates and he is understood to have made no demands during the preliminary discussions.
Chelsea were rumoured to have made an enquiry for the midfielder last summer but Arsenal rejected the proposal.
Walcott's current deal expires next year and Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen to ensure that the winger's future is with the Gunners.
The 22-year-old signed for Arsenal in 2006 from Southampton.
