Deadline day key events
Liverpool 'dealt Pulisic blow' as Milan take decisive action
Liverpool have reportedly been dealt a blow in their quest to sign AC Milan attacker Christian Pulisic.
The Merseyside outfit experienced an underwhelming transfer window in the summer, signing Federico Chiesa on a cut-price deal and agreeing a transfer with Valencia to recruit goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili ahead of next season.
Their lack of transfer activity has not affected their performances on the pitch, with Liverpool currently sitting top of both the Premier League and Champions League standings.
While they are achieving positive results in Arne Slot's first season, Liverpool are on the lookout for potential reinforcements in future transfer windows.
Ederson replacement: Man City identify Serie A goalkeeper as transfer target?
Manchester City have reportedly identified Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio as a potential replacement for their current number one Ederson.
The Brazil international has spent over seven years at the Etihad Stadium after arriving from Benfica in the summer of 2015.
Ederson has enjoyed significant success during his time with the Citizens, helping the club win six Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, a Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.
The goalkeeper's trophy-laden stay in Manchester looked set to come to an end in the summer transfer window following intense interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Amorim points finger at Rashford's team over bombshell interview
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has questioned Marcus Rashford's team after the forward recently admitted that he could leave the club in the near future.
Rashford revealed in a recent interview with Henry Winter that he was "ready for a new challenge and the next steps" in his career, hinting that he is heading towards the exit door at Old Trafford.
The Man United academy product made the surprising remarks after being left out of Amorim's squad for the 2-1 win over Manchester City.
Rashford has since failed to make the matchday squad for Man United's last two games against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth.
Heading the other way? Chelsea readying £49.8m bid for Milan 'revelation'
Chelsea are readying an offer of €60m (£49.8m) for the signature of AC Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana, according to a report.
The Blues have unexpectedly forced their way into Premier League title contention in the first half of the 2024-25 season, sitting second in the table with a four-point gap to Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
The previously criticised Moises Caicedo has flourished in Enzo Maresca's system, while Enzo Fernandez has also found a knack for scoring and assisting after forcing his way back into the team.
Romeo Lavia, Renato Veiga, Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall represent alternative midfield options, but the latter three are out of favour and could pursue moves elsewhere next year.
'Wills above clauses': What is the latest on Zubimendi to Liverpool?
Real Sociedad sporting director Roberto Olabe has affirmed that he does not expect Liverpool-linked midfielder Martin Zubimendi to push for an exit during the January transfer window.
The Spanish Euro 2024 winner was believed to be on the cusp of joining the Reds during the summer window, only to have a late change of heart and remain in San Sebastian.
Zubimendi recently opened up on his "selfish" decision to continue with his boyhood club, but he is being lined up for a Premier League move once again at the end of the current campaign.
Despite being rebuffed by Zubimendi over the summer, Liverpool are still understood to be in the mix, while Manchester City and Arsenal have also been touted as possible destinations.
Short and sweet: Van Dijk issues contract update after 'agreement'
Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk has insisted that there is "no deadline" to sign a new contract at Anfield as he prepares to enter the last six months of his current terms.
For months now, Reds boss Arne Slot has been forced to bat away questions over the futures of Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, all of whom are due to become free agents in 2025.
All three will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January if they do not sign a new deal in the coming days, although it has been reported that Van Dijk has chosen to stay.
The 33-year-old's apparent renewal has not been announced by the club just yet, though, and there are seemingly still a few more hoops to jump through before Van Dijk signs on the dotted line.
Exiled Chelsea star braced for transfer frustration as club 'receive no offers'
Chelsea are reportedly struggling to attract offers for one of their fringe players ahead of the January transfer window.
Enzo Maresca has taken a firm stance regarding the make-up of his Blues squad since arriving at Stamford Bridge earlier this year.
Nevertheless, the likes of Ben Chilwell, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka were all reintegrated once it became apparent that they would not attract suitable offers during the summer.
All three players remain available for an exit at the midway point of the campaign, Casadei in particular having been linked with a move to Serie A.
Spurs 'make approach' to sign ex-Premier League defender amid injury crisis
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Everton defender Ben Godfrey.
Despite their well-documented injury issues, Spurs went into Sunday's Premier League fixture with Liverpool possessing one of the best defensive records in the division.
However, Ange Postecoglou witnessed his side succumb to a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the leaders in a game where the North Londoners could have conceded more.
After the game, Postecoglou retained his stance regarding an unwillingness to alter his style of play, as well as reiterating that goals are being conceded to not having his first-choice goalkeeper, two centre-backs and left-back available.
Chelsea identify Sporting prospect for 2025 Strasbourg loan?
Chelsea have reportedly identified a Sporting Lisbon youngster as a potential signing for Strasbourg.
The Blues are currently enjoying an encouraging campaign under Enzo Maresca, sitting in second position in the Premier League table after 17 matches.
Progression under the Italian has been aided by drastically reducing the club's squad numbers, something that was helped by allowing several players join Strasbourg on a permanent or temporary basis.
Djordje Petrovic, Caleb Wiley, Diego Moreira and Andrey Santos all made moves to Le Racing, who are effectively the sister club of Chelsea through being owned by BlueCo.
Man United 'transfer list two senior stars' as Amorim leads Old Trafford rebuild
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has allegedly made a further two senior players available for transfer.
The Portuguese suffered his fourth defeat in nine matches in charge on Sunday afternoon as United succumbed to a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Bournemouth.
Although the Red Devils remain just six points adrift of fifth position, they currently occupy 13th position in the Premier League table.
Despite there being two matches remaining before the turn of the year, Amorim and the club's recruitment team are already planning changes during the January window.
Liverpool 'learn asking price' for Premier League forward
Liverpool have reportedly discovered the asking price of Brighton & Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro.
The Merseyside giants have had no issues scoring goals during the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, as shown in Sunday's 6-3 victory at Tottenham Hotspur.
Arne Slot's side now sit four points clear at the top of the table having netted 37 times in their 16 matches in the top flight.
Nevertheless, the future of Mohamed Salah remains very much in the air, despite positive negotiations having allegedly been held with a player who has 26 goal and assist contributions in this season's Premier League.
