Arsenal have reportedly started to make plans regarding a move for Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira.
Since Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, the Spaniard has been linked with a wide range of fresh faces and it appears that a defensive-minded midfielder could be on his radar.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Emery has been left impressed with Torreira's performances in Serie A, with the 22-year-old spending the last four years in Italian football.
The Uruguayan has made a total of 71 top-flight appearances for Sampdoria, and Arsenal are seemingly encouraged to move forward with a bid due to the player's £22m release clause and the South American's interest in representing the Premier League side.
Everton have also been linked with an offer for Torreira but may have to sell players before making an official approach.
