Arsenal ace Olivier Giroud latest striker on Chelsea radar?

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is wanted by Premier League champions Chelsea to provide competition for Alvaro Morata, according to a report.

Chelsea are preparing a surprise offer for Arsenal's Olivier Giroud as they continue their search for a new targetman, according to a report.

The Blues have already been linked with a number of tall strikers during the January transfer window, including the likes of Peter Crouch and Andy Carroll.

Roma ace Edin Dzeko has since emerged as the Premier League champions' top target, but discussions between the two clubs have reached an impasse due to a disagreement in valuation.

Chelsea could therefore look elsewhere with just five days of the window left, and The Mirror suggests that Giroud is the latest name to be mentioned around Stamford Bridge.

The France international is understood to have turned down a loan move to Borussia Dortmund and is instead weighing up other options, though Arsenal are unlikely to offload another of their players to a direct rival.
