Richard Dunne will reportedly be told in the near future by Aston Villa that he is free to find himself another club.
The 33-year-old failed to make a single appearance last season because of a groin injury that required surgery last August.
Having had such a long spell away from the game, manager Paul Lambert has decided that he cannot rely on the Republic of Ireland defender and so will not renew his expiring contract, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Dunne joined Villa from fellow Premier League outfit Manchester City in 2009.
The report also added that Darren Bent, Stephen Ireland and Shay Given will all hold discussions with Lambert about their futures soon.
