Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has claimed that he has "grown greatly" as a manager during his time at the Vicente Calderon.
The Argentine took charge of Atletico in 2011 and has already led them to the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League.
It had been speculated that the 44-year-would seek pastures new this summer, but on Tuesday, Simeone penned a new five-year deal with the Spanish outfit.
"As a coach I've grown greatly. We've been given the time and confidence to be able to develop the squad. There was a clear effort to retain a strong squad after winning the Europa League and Copa del Rey," Simeone told reporters at his official press conference.
"We only lost a few players and that was not easy. The success was the best thing I received from this club. What do we give: passion! We love this club and want to keep working with this enthusiasm and passion."
Simeone has been named La Liga Coach of the Year in each of the last two seasons.
