Franck Ribery prepared for Shakhtar Donetsk counter-attacks

Franck Ribery claims that dealing with Shakhtar Donetsk's counter-attacks will be key for Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League tie.

Franck Ribery has admitted that Bayern Munich will have to make sure they are not vulnerable to counter-attacks against Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League clash on Wednesday.

A goalless draw in the first leg in Ukraine means that the last-16 tie remains in the balance, and Ribery believes that how Bayern handle the threat of Shakhtar's attackers will be key at the Allianz Arena.

"Shakhtar have forwards with quality and we have to be aware of this," the French winger told reporters. "They are good at counter-attacking, so we have to avoid this. It is very important for us to progress to the quarter-finals.

"Shakhtar are a good team, we know this. But, we are even better. Of course, our will and aim is to win the game and go through."

Bayern have reached the quarter-finals of the competition in seven of the last eight seasons.
