Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber nears comeback

Bayern Munich's Holger Badstuber returns to training after 17 months on the sidelines.

Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber has returned to training following 17 months out through injury.

The centre-back has not featured for the Bundesliga champions since suffering cruciate ligament damage in December 2012.

Badstuber took part in a training session on Thursday, but it is unclear whether he will return to action before the end of the season.

Bayern have also been boosted by the news that winger Xherdan Shaqiri has recovered from a hamstring problem, and is likely to be fit for the DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund later this month.
