Gary Rowett: "It's a monumental achievement"

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett feels that his side have made a huge achievement by all but securing their Championship status following their win over Rotherham United.

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett believes that his side have recorded a "monumental achievement" by reaching 50 points in the Championship this season.

Rowett joined the Blues in October with the club languishing in the relegation zone, having taken just 11 points from their opening 14 matches.

However, following their 2-1 win over Rotherham United at St Andrew's, Rowett's men have moved to the 50-point mark and all but secured their status in the Championship for next season.

He told reporters: "Some of the headlines were mission impossible and some people said that to me at the start but we never viewed it as that. We've always been confident we can turn things round.

"The biggest turnaround for me has been the home form. When we came in I think he record was one win in 26, and now it's seven wins, four draws and two losses.

"It's a monumental achievement and the players mostly should be really proud."

Birmingham are 15th in the Championship, 14 points clear of the relegation zone with seven games remaining in their season.
