Gary Bowyer has revealed that he is "hopeful" that Josh King will commit his future to Blackburn Rovers.
The Norway international will be out of contract next month, which means that he will be free to move elsewhere.
However, the 23-year-old has been offered an extension until the summer of 2018 and Bowyer has informed the attacker that staying at Ewood Park would be beneficial for his career.
"We want him here, he knows that, he knows how much we want him, so we're just trying to get it over the line, but we're hopeful," Bowyer told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"We've been telling him that this club provides the best opportunity to progress his career even further."
King joined Rovers from Manchester United in 2013.
