Patrick Vieira has insisted that Manchester City are good enough to win this season's Champions League.
The Premier League champions have boosted their squad over the summer with the signings of Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair, Javi Garcia and Maicon.
Vieira, who works as a football development executive at the Etihad Stadium, now believes that the team can challenge for European club football's top prize.
"Only [manager] Roberto Mancini can answer the question of how good the team is to challenge other teams in the Champions League or the Premier League," he said.
"But in the end, when you look at the team, I personally believe we are good enough to retain the title and to challenge any of the other teams in the Champions League."
City have been drawn with Real Madrid, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund in this year's competition.
