Half-Time Report: Chelsea, Atletico Madrid remain level

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid share a goalless first half in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie.

Chelsea have headed into half time level following a goalless first half in the opening leg of their Champions League semi-final tie with Atletico Madrid.

The home side tried to apply the pressure early on as Koke delivered a cross into the box intended for Diego Costa, but Petr Cech managed to claim the ball.

However, the Chelsea keeper was forced off with an injury shortly after following a collision with Raul Garcia in the six-yard box, with Mark Schwarzer taking his place between the posts.

Thibaut Courtois, who is facing his parent club this evening, came under pressure at the other end shortly after as Gary Cahill tried to head the ball in from a corner, but the defender's finish went just wide.

Atletico appealed for a penalty five minutes before the break, claiming that Cesar Azpilicueta blocked a Costa shot with his arm, but the referee was not interested.

The home side continued to create the majority of the chances in the final minutes of the opening period, but failed to really test Schwarzer as Ashley Cole and John Terry both made several blocks for Jose Mourinho's side.

Fernando Torres won a free kick in a dangerous position deep into stoppage time, but David Luiz's strike failed to clear the wall.
