Former Chelsea full-back Filipe Luis has accused Jose Mourinho of demanding too much from his players during his time at Stamford Bridge.
The 30-year-old defender spent just one season in West London under the watch of Mourinho, before making a swift return to Atletico Madrid last summer.
Luis says that the Portuguese's sacking at the end of last year did not come as too much of a surprise to him, pointing to the arduous workload placed on each individual member of the Blues' squad.
"Speaking about Mourinho is always controversial and there's always some intrigue surrounding him," he told FourFourTwo. "But he is an awesome coach who tries to take the maximum from each and every one of his players.
"I think that's one of the reasons why he loses the dressing room sometimes. He asks so much of his players that some can't handle it for too long."
Luis, who joined Chelsea in a £17m deal from Atletico in 2014, made 15 appearances for the club before heading back to the Spanish capital.
