Gerard Pique feels that he and the rest of Barcelona's defensive unit are capable of guiding the club to success without the help of any summer additions.
Bringing in a top-class centre-half is apparently the Catalan outfit's priority in this transfer window, and they have reportedly lodged bids for both Chelsea's David Luiz and Liverpool's Daniel Agger.
Neither of the Premier League clubs are willing to entertain Barca's advances, but Pique believes that the La Liga champions' existing backline is not in need of reinforcements anyway.
"The players who are here now are good enough to defend the team throughout the season," he told reporters in Spain.
Captain Carles Puyol, Javier Mascherano and Marc Barta are those players who regular feature alongside Pique in a Barca defence that conceded 40 La Liga goals last season.
