Five signings which make sense for Chelsea this summer

While Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is set to have a significant transfer warchest this summer, only signing a certain type of player makes sense.

For a number of months, Chelsea supporters have read constant reports that a takeover may or may not go through on time, the saga creating excitement on one hand and frustration on the other. However, at a time when a consortium led by Todd Boehly are on the brink of being confirmed as the new owners, further speculation has emerged that head coach Thomas Tuchel will be provided with £200m to spend on new signings. Naturally, that feels like a big statement from the new powers-that-be, but Chelsea will only close the gap on the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool if they are smart in the transfer market.

Just like punters can get value for money through Dreams Casino website, Tuchel and the Premier League giants will be assessing which players are most suited to the West London club as they attempt to replace a number of outgoing defenders. Most notably, Antonio Rudiger is departing for pastures new and with Thiago Silva close to turning 38 years of age, Chelsea require a leader who can feature in the backline for a number of years. Step forward Kalidou Koulibaly, who appears increasing likely to leave Napoli with just a year left on his contract. There will be those who will argue with some justification that Chelsea should be steering clear of a player who turns 31 next month, but Silva has proven that age is not everything. Without Rudiger, Chelsea will be missing a commanding force in the air, and if they can sign Koulibaly, an international teammate of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, for £30m, they should be doing so without a second thought.

As punters will do when taking a look at Mystake Casino Review, Tuchel will be contemplating whether there are more pros than cons when it comes to pushing through each deal, and acquiring the services of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan would prove to be an astute piece of business. At 33 years of age, the Croatia international is arguably past his best, but he has the qualities to deputise at wing-back on either side and hold down a regular spot in the final third. Being available on a free transfer is simply a bonus, and he is a player who would be respected and regularly used by Tuchel.

Sticking with the wing-back theme and Chelsea should still be looking to sign Marc Cucurella. Brighton & Hove Albion are allegedly demanding in the region of £45m for a player that cost them a third of that figure last summer, but the Spaniard has proven in his short time at the Amex Stadium that he has the quality to become a regular in any Premier League team for years to come. The presence of Ben Chilwell, potentially Ivan Perisic and young duo Lewis Hall and Dylan Williams means that this addition should not be deemed a necessity, but Chelsea would be sorted at left wing-back for multiple seasons if they are prepared to commit to signing the 23-year-old, who is also capable of playing on the left-hand side of a back three.

Having agreed to sell Diego Carlos to Aston Villa, you get the impression that Sevilla will play hardball yet again when it comes to the future of Jules Kounde, but that is not to say that Chelsea should back off in their pursuit. The 2021 Champions League winners are said to be against meeting the France international's release clause, reported to be £68m, but in the grand scheme of things, it should offer value for money with Kounde also capable of deputising at right-back or even right wing-back. Tuchel will want players who can play in several positions at a time when he is tasked with lowering the average age of the squad, and regardless of the transfer fee involved, bringing in Kounde is a no-brainer.

Conor Gallagher will add to Chelsea's English core next season, but that is not to say that they cannot benefit from another homegrown player. Despite Leeds United remaining in the Premier League, talk persists of Kalvin Phillips potentially moving to Manchester City, but the England international would earn more game time at Stamford Bridge if one of Jorginho or N'Golo Kante leave for a new challenge. Phillips has had his injury issues, but he showcased his ability playing in a 3-4-3 formation during England's run to the Euro 2020 final. His qualities would complement those of either Mateo Kovacic and Gallagher, and his valuation is well within Chelsea's reach. Tempting Phillips into a move away from the North of England could prove difficult, but joining a new project may be more beneficial to Phillips than becoming second-choice behind Rodri at Man City.
