Chelsea have reportedly moved to try to agree a new long-term contract with defender Antonio Rudiger.
Since making the switch to Stamford Bridge in 2017, Rudiger has netted six goals from 105 appearances in all competitions.
Although the Blues have competition for places in the middle of the backline, the 27-year-old's is regarded as first choice by manager Frank Lampard.
According to Sky Sports News, this has led to club officials opening discussions regarding a new deal for the Germany international.
While Rudiger still has over two years remaining on his contract, Chelsea want to extend the centre-back's stay through to 2023, as well as possessing the option for an extra 12 months.
However, the report adds that no agreement is imminent, with talks having been interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
