Emerson Palmieri set for Chelsea exit?

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmeri is reportedly set to leave the club after struggling for first-team action, with Napoli keen to bring him back to Serie A.

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri could reportedly be set to head for the exit door at Stamford Bridge after falling out of favour under Frank Lampard.

The 26-year-old's game time has been limited after Ben Chilwell quickly established himself as Chelsea's first-choice left-back following his summer arrival from Leicester City.

Having turned out just eight times across all competitions this term - including a measly two appearances in the Premier League as a substitute - Emerson is expected to move on in 2021.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are keen to bring the Italy international back to Serie A, where he turned out for Palermo and Roma before signing for Chelsea in 2018.

The report claims that the Blues are trying to ship out Emerson permanently instead of sanctioning a January loan deal, and a fee of €10m (£8.9m) will likely be enough to prise the defender away from Stamford Bridge.

Emerson has made 63 appearances and won one FA Cup during his time in the English capital, where his current deal will expire at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
