Harry Redknapp: 'Premier League clubs should take Emmanuel Adebayor'

Free agent Emmanuel Adebayor could still play for any club in the Premier League, according to former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp.

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has urged Premier League clubs to take a punt on free agent Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Togo international is currently being strongly linked with a move to Crystal Palace, with a report claiming that the striker could join the Eagles in time to face his former club Manchester City at the weekend.

Redknapp had Adebayor at Spurs and the experienced manager, who is currently unemployed, has insisted that signing a player of that quality on a free transfer is "a no-brainer".

"If any manager rang me about signing Emmanuel Adebayor I'd have a simple message: take him until the end of the season. You can't lose," Redknapp wrote in his Evening Standard column.

"When you look around at what is available in the market this month, Adebayor on a free transfer until the end of the season is a no-brainer.

"He could even perform at a higher level - Chelsea have been linked with him and if he went to a club like that, he'd know he wouldn't necessarily play every week but on a short-term basis, so he should relish the challenge of proving he is big enough to play in the big games."

Adebayor, 31, left Spurs by mutual consent in September and is believed to have spent an extended period in Africa before returning to England in search of a new club.
